Tour Schedule

  • The bus will be asked to park in the parking lot at Juan Seguin Park around 9am
  • Participants will be asked to park their cars at Monument Inn Restaurant parking lot across the road from Seguin Park no later than 9:15am
  • Around 9:30am, we will walk across the road to Juan Seguin Park for the initial lecture, at the site where Buffalo Bayou empties into the San Jacinto River
  • The bus will then take us to the Texas Army camp, parking in the parking lot for the Battleship Texas near the cemetery. (I will be up front directing the drive.) Participants will walk to the Brigham Monument and Zavala Cemetery area (discussions at both spots), then back to the bus
  • Bus takes everyone to the Mexican Army camp, located south of the San Jacinto Monument. Here we will have a discussion on the battle and archeology in the area
  • Bus takes everyone to the boggy bayou/marsh area, far south end of the battleground. Discuss the slaughter in the boggy bayou area and Almonte surrender, and see the new marsh restoration
  • Bus returns to Monument Inn. Lunch on your own
  • After lunch, bus takes everyone to San Jacinto Monument. Tour on your own. Free ticket to slide show
  • Bus returns to Monument Inn parking lot. End of tour
