GREENS LAKE. Greens Lake, which before 1908 formed part of Greens Bayou, is just north of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in extreme southwestern Galveston County (at 29°16' N, 95°00' W). The lake is a mile across at its widest point and is surrounded by brackish saltwater marshlands.
