ROONEY CANYON. Rooney (Runey) Canyon, down which flows an intermittent stream, begins four miles south of Little Star Mountain and seven miles southwest of the Pecos county line in eastern Jeff Davis County (at 30°38' N, 103°37' W) and runs north for eight miles to its mouth on Horse Thief Canyon, six miles north of Major Peak and eighteen miles northeast of Fort Davis (at 30°43' N, 103°38' W).
