WATERS MOUNTAIN. Waters Mountain is ten miles west of Lampasas in southwestern Lampasas County (at 31°06' N, 98°21' W). At an elevation of 1,599 feet above sea level, its summit rises 100 feet above nearby Ranch Road 580. It stands in an area of the Grand Prairies characterized by steeply to moderately sloping hills and shallow, stony, sandy and clayey loams. Vegetation consists primarily of grasses and open stands of live oak and Ashe juniper.
