ROUNDHEAD MOUNTAIN. Roundhead (Round Head) Mountain, with an elevation of 1,876 feet, is eleven miles east of Fredericksburg in eastern Gillespie County (at 30°17' N, 98°41' W). It lies in an area of the Edwards Plateau characterized by shallow loamy and clayey soils and level to gently rolling uplands and ridgetops. Steep slopes and limestone benches give a stairstep appearance to the landscape. Vegetation consists primarily of grasses and open stands of live oak and Ashe juniper.
