INGE MOUNTAIN. Inge Mountain, a conical formation with an elliptical base, is two miles southeast of Uvalde in south central Uvalde County (at 29°11' N, 99°46' W). Its summit, at an elevation of 1,021 feet above sea level, rises some 125 feet above nearby Farm Road 140. Inge Mountain is composed of large purplish boulders of Uvalde phonolite; this unique type of rock is found in no other formation in Texas.
