GREER MOUNTAINS. The Greer Mountains are a mile southwest of Sedwick in southeast central Shackelford County (at 32°37' N, 99°14' W). They rise to an elevation of 1,500 feet above sea level and project l66 feet above nearby State Highway 6. In the surrounding rolling terrain, clay and sandy loams support scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, and grasses. The mountains are named for a family of early settlers.
