DOUBLE MOUNTAIN (STONEWALL COUNTY)
DOUBLE MOUNTAIN (Stonewall County). Double Mountain is the name of two separate hills located just north of the headwaters of Count Creek, thirteen miles southwest of Aspermont and eight miles south of Peacockin southwestern Stonewall County (at 33°08' N, 100°25' W). Both hills reach an elevation of about 2,000 feet above sea level and rise some 600 feet above the surrounding terrain. They have long been regional landmarks and in 1849 were cited by the surveying party of Randolph B. Marcy.
