BIG BEE ROCK
BIG BEE ROCK. Big Bee Rock, also known as Bee Mountain and Big Bee Mountain, is near Meridian Creek 3½ miles west of Clifton in southwestern Bosque County (at 31°48' N, 97°39' W). Its elevation is 949 feet. The area is flat to rolling and locally dissected. The land surface is of stony clays and loams that support oak, juniper, mesquite, and grasses. On February 12, 1978, at 2:40 p.m., a nearby rancher heard a loud blast and, upon investigating, found that an end had broken off Big Bee Rock.
