WHATLEY CREEK. Whatley Creek, sometimes referred to as Caney Creek, rises two miles northeast of Marietta in northwestern Cass County (33°12' N, 94°31' W). Intermittent in its upper and middle reaches, the stream flows northeast for seven miles to its mouth on Wright Patman Lake, four miles northeast of Bryans Mill (at 33°15' N, 94°26' W). The soils through which the creek flows are loamy, and the area, which is gently undulating to gently rolling, is heavily wooded, predominantly with pines and various hardwoods.
