PINEY CREEK (BASTROP COUNTY)
PINEY CREEK (Bastrop County). Piney Creek rises in south central Bastrop County (at 29°53' N, 97°19' W) three miles south of Rosanky and runs north for about ten miles to its mouth (at 30°00' N, 97°19' W) on Sandy Creek. Piney Creek was named for the timber along its banks, which was cut and delivered to Bastrop sawmills in the mid-1800s. The stream traverses an upland area with sandy surface soils. Vegetation in the area now consists primarily of post oak woods.
