OPOSSUM CREEK (Atascosa County). Opossum Creek rises ten miles southeast of Christine in southeastern Atascosa County (at 28°39' N, 98°27' W) and runs southeast for thirteen miles to its mouth on Choke Canyon Reservoir, seven miles north of Calliham in northwestern McMullen County (at 28°30' N, 98°21' W). The stream rises in low-rolling terrain and descends to flat land with locally shallow depressions. The local clayey and sandy loams support grasses, mesquite, and chaparral in the creek's upper reaches and water-tolerant hardwoods and grasses in its lower.
