ODELL CREEK. Odell Creek rises just north of Huntington in northeastern Angelina County (at 31°18' N, 94°35' W) and runs northeast for seven miles to its mouth on Sam Rayburn Reservoir (at 31°20' N, 94°27' W). The creek is intermittent for part of its length. It flows through an area characterized by mixed pine and hardwood forests, mesquite trees, and grasses growing in sandy or loamy surface soils over clay and loam subsoils. The creek was named for Sarah Odell, an early landowner.
