LAS OVEJAS CREEK. Las Ovejas Creek rises twenty-two miles northeast of San Ygnacio in north central Zapata County (at 27°13 N, 99°10' W) and runs southeast for nine miles to its mouth on Salomoneño Creek, eight miles northwest of Escobas (at 27°07' N, 99°08' W). The surrounding flat to rolling terrain is surfaced by moderately deep to deep clay loams that support mesquite, grasses, and chaparral.
