FOUNTAIN CREEK

FOUNTAIN CREEK. Fountain Creek rises two miles southwest of Groveton in central Trinity County (at 31°03' N, 95°10' W) and runs southwest for nine miles to its mouth on the Lake Livingston reservoir, two miles west of Chita (at 30° 58' N, 95° 13' W). Before the construction of the reservoir in the 1960s, the stream entered the Trinity River just west of Sebastopol. Fountain Creek traverses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support conifers, water-tolerant hardwoods, and grasses.
