FLAG CREEK (Gillespie County). Flag Creek rises three miles north of the Old Harper Road in western Gillespie County in the hills of the eastern Edwards Plateau (at 30°21' N, 99°10' W) and runs south for 8½ miles to its mouth on the Pedernales River, a mile south of Ranch Road 2093 (at 30°15' N, 99°09' W). The stream crosses flat terrain surfaced by shallow clayey and loamy soils that support open stands of live oak, Ashe juniper, mesquite, and grasses.
