CONKLINE CREEK. Conkline Creek rises three miles north of Childress in south central Childress County (at 34°27' N, 100°15' W) and runs north, almost parallel to U.S. Highway 83, for nine miles to its mouth on the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River (at 34°33' N, 100°10' W). The land through which it runs was once part of the OX Ranch. It crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by loams that support grasses, mesquite, and cacti.
