CANEY CREEK (SHELBY COUNTY)
CANEY CREEK (Shelby County). Caney Creek rises five miles northeast of Center in northeastern Shelby County (at 31°49' N, 94°06' W) and runs southeast for five miles to its mouth on Tenaha Creek (at 31°48' N, 94°03' W). It traverses flat to moderately steep terrain surfaced by soils varying from sandy to clayey and loamy. The local countryside is heavily wooded, with pines and various hardwoods predominating.
