CANEY CREEK (BOWIE COUNTY)

CANEY CREEK (Bowie County). Caney Creek rises within the Red River Army Depot a mile south of Hooks in central Bowie County (at 33°27' N, 94°18' W) and runs south for ten miles to its mouth on Big Creek, three miles east of Maud (at 33°20' N, 94°17' W). The upper and middle reaches of the creek have been dammed to form Caney Creek Reservoir just inside the southern boundary of the depot.
