BARNHARDT CREEK. Barnhardt Creek rises five miles south of New Prospect in central Rusk County (at 32°08' N, 94°45' W) and runs southwest for eleven miles to its mouth on Shawnee Creek above the East Fork of the Angelina River, seven miles south of Henderson (at 32°01' N, 94°49' W). It flows through an area of flat to rolling prairie with local escarpments. The soil varies from thick, fine, sandy loams to clay loams. Native vegetation consists primarily of pine and hardwood forests.
