ALLIGATOR CREEK (HILL COUNTY)
ALLIGATOR CREEK (Hill County). Alligator Creek rises a mile northwest of Abbott in south central Hill County (at 31°54' N, 97°05' W) and runs southwest for ten miles to its mouth on Aquilla Creek (at 31°50' N, 97°11' W). The streambed traverses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by shallow, stony clay loams and clay to sandy loams that support juniper, oak, cacti, scrub brush, and grasses. For most of the county's history, the Alligator Creek area has been used as range and crop land.
