SAN JACINTO HISTORICAL ADVISORY BOARD. The San Jacinto Historical Advisory Board, established in 1965, was composed of the chairman of the Battleship Texas Commission and the president of the San Jacinto Museum of History Association as ex officio members, plus three members appointed by the governor for overlapping six-year terms. The function of the board was to advise the Parks and Wildlife Commission (see TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT) on the proper historical development of the site and to accept all gifts and grants made for the battleground. In the 1990s the board was still active.
