WATKINS, TX (VAN ZANDT COUNTY)
WATKINS, TEXAS (Van Zandt County). Watkins is just off Farm Road 47 and south of State Highway 243 nine miles west of Canton in west central Van Zandt County. It had a school that reached an enrollment of fifty-seven in 1905 and was consolidated with the Canton Independent School District in 1952. State highway maps showed the school, a business, and scattered dwellings at the townsite in 1936 and a town hall and church in 1987.
