TINNEY CHAPEL, TX
TINNEY CHAPEL, TEXAS. Tinney Chapel, a church community on a dirt road off Farm Road 312 two miles south of Winnsboro in northeastern Wood County, was established sometime after 1886 by the William Ambrose Tinney family from Alabama. Tinney was said to have had at least eighteen children from two marriages, all of whom settled in the community. In the mid-1930s the community had the chapel and a few scattered dwellings along a bladed-earth road, and in the 1960s the chapel and a few dwellings remained at the site.
