COPANO BAY STATE FISHING PIER
COPANO BAY STATE FISHING PIER. Copano Bay State Fishing Pier, sometimes called Copano Bay Causeway State Recreation Park, is on State Highway 35 at Copano Bay, six miles north of Fulton and forty-one miles northeast of Corpus Christi in Aransas County. It is a six-acre park with a fishing pier, available for day use only. The park has group facilities, restrooms, picnicking, fishing, boat ramps, swimming, a museum exhibit, and a historic structure. The pier was established in 1967 when the Texas State Highway Department (later the Texas Department of Transportationqv) built a new causeway and turned the old causeway over to the Parks and Wildlife Commission, which made it into a lighted fishing pier. The park is operated as a concession rather than by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is open twenty-four hours daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and from dawn to early afternoon the rest of the year. There is a small user fee charged. The pier is three miles south of Goose Island State Park on Park Road 13, where full camping facilities are available.
