SQUIRREL CREEK (Grayson County). Squirrel Creek rises 1½ miles southeast of Dorchester in south central Grayson County (at 33°32' N, 96°40' W). The stream, intermittent in its upper reaches, runs south for 8½ miles to its mouth on the East Fork of the Trinity River, one-half mile north of the county's southern boundary and 5½ miles southeast of Gunter (at 33°25' N, 96°40' W). It crosses rolling prairie surfaced by deep to shallow expansive clays and clay loams that support oak and juniper trees and grasses. The area historically has served as crop and range land.
