RAINY CREEK. Rainy Creek rises five miles southwest of Elmdale in western Callahan County (at 32°22' N, 99°35' W) and flows northwest for twelve miles to its mouth on Cedar Creek, two miles north of Abilene in northeastern Taylor County (at 32°30' N, 99°42' W). The stream flows through flat to gently sloping terrain surfaced by shallow stony soils and moderately deep to shallow silt loams that support vegetation ranging from juniper and live oaks to mesquite and grasses.
