PADGITT, TEXAS. Padgitt, at the intersection of State Highway 79 and Farm Road 2898, in northwestern Young County, was named for I. B. Padgitt, who settled in the region in 1875. Padgitt planted the first local wheat and built the first cotton gin. In 1940 the population was thirty-five, and in 1949 Padgitt had two churches, a store, and a repair shop. The population was twenty-three in 1980 and 1990.
