MALLET, PAUL (?–1753). Paul Mallet, a French Canadian voyageur and explorer, was probably born in Montreal, Canada, the son of Pierre and Madeline Mallet. He accompanied his elder brother, Pierre Antoine Mallet, to Santa Fe in 1739 and participated in Fabry's failed attempt to ascend the Canadian River in 1741-42 (see MALLET EXPEDITIONS). In 1744 he married Marie Jeanne Barié and settled at Arkansas Post. They had three children. Mallet died there in 1753.
