LA PARITA CREEK. La Parita Creek rises a mile east of Tobey in west central Atascosa County (at 28°55' N, 98°42' W) and runs southeast for 29½ miles to its mouth on Metate Creek, five miles southwest of Campbellton (at 28°39' N, 98°18' W). The surrounding flat terrain has local shallow depressions and is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses. The land in use is either dry crop or range land. The area was settled as early as 1858.
