IMPERIALIST CREEK. Imperialist Creek, also known as Saus Creek, rises two miles south of Interstate Highway 90 and four miles southeast of Brackettville in central Kinney County (at 29°18' N, 100°23' W) and runs southwest for twenty-seven miles before emptying into Elm Creek seven miles northeast of Quemado in far north central Maverick County (at 29°01' N, 100°26' W). Vegetation throughout the creek's course consists of sparse scrub brush and various grasses. The stream runs through steep to gently sloping terrain surfaced with variably permeable soils.
