INDEPENDENCE STATE PARK. Independence State Park, a seven-acre park twelve miles north of Brenham in Washington County, was acquired by legislative enactment in 1947. It is leased to Baylor University until the year 2062 and has been designated a historical site. It was no longer listed with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1990.
