HACKBERRY CREEK (Brewster County). Hackberry Creek rises just south of the Peña Blanca Mountains and just west of Horse Mountain in northeastern Brewster County (at 30°02' N, 103°09' W) and runs southwest for seventeen miles to its mouth on Maravillas Creek, 4½ miles southeast of Maravillas Gap (at 29°52' N, 103°17' W). It traverses an area of steep to gentle slopes, surfaced by variable soils that support scrub brush and sparse grasses.
