The 2009
Mary M. Hughes Research Fellowship
in Texas History

The Mary M. Hughes Research Fellowship in Texas History is awarded annually for the best research proposal on twentieth-century Texas history.

Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2008. The application, which should be no longer than one page, should specify the purpose of the research, the need for the money, and a description of the end product (article, book, or exhibition). Please include a complete vita with the application. The award will be announced at the Association's annual meeting in March 2009. Judges may withhold the award at their discretion.

The Mary M. Hughes Research Fellowship in Texas History was established in 1999 by the thirteen children of Mary M. Hughes, to celebrate their mother's eighty-ninth birthday and her fiftieth year in Texas. The award honors her great love of Texas and its history.
